FAQS

To make this website more useful and informational, we have included here the answers to a number of questions we are continually asked by teachers and reviewers.

  • How can I get samples of some of the products shown here?

The products shown here belong to the publishers, so they need to authorize any samples that are sent. For each product shown, a link is shown that connects to the web address of the publisher. Please follow the link to the publisher's website to request any samples.

  • Do you develop technology products?

Yes! Nieman Inc. is a major American developer of lessons for interactive whiteboards. Nieman's managers and editors have been at the forefront of IWB lesson development, designing materials that are rigorous and standards-based as well as stimulating and fun. The company has also developed a standardized-test practice Web site in conjunction with Sadlier-Oxford, a long-established and widely respected educational publisher. Creating videos is another Nieman strength. In conjunction with Glencoe, Nieman developed Literature Launchers, a series of mini-documentaries that introduced high school students to important writers, literary periods, and world cultures. Nieman also created professional development videos, including videos of esteemed authors Jim Burke and Timothy V. Rasinksi, Ph.D., as part of the Academic Workout series. What sets Nieman Inc. apart is its combination of technological savvy and content knowledge with a deep understanding of the basics of teaching and learning. Technology changes, but our respect for teachers and students stays the same.

  • How do you find the editors who work with you?

Like businesses, we put ads in the newspaper or on online job sites. In most cases, we look for people with both educational and editorial experience. But that combination is often hard to find.

  • How are you different from other publisher services?

First, Nieman Inc. works in most cases as a publisher partner with a client. We usually become involved in a project at the very beginning, even at the point of helping shape the project itself. Second, we work with teachers very closely across the country, assuring that the product responds to the needs of the teachers. And third, we often initiate ideas, suggest products, and make proposals for publishers who are interested in creative solutions.
